AMTA Oregon is the local chapter of a national, member-driven nonprofit—and a community with its own Oregon voice.
The American Massage Therapy Association’s mission is to serve AMTA members while advancing the art, science and practice of massage therapy. Here in Oregon, our volunteer Board of Directors turns that mission into practical local work: setting priorities, stewarding chapter resources, listening to members, and showing up for the profession throughout the year.
We believe massage therapists deserve relevant education, clear information, strong professional relationships, and meaningful representation where decisions are made.

Advocacy in action
Showing up when Oregon therapists need a voice.
Advocacy becomes real when local knowledge, member participation, and professional relationships come together.
In 2025, AMTA Oregon and AMTA’s Government Relations team responded to a proposed Gresham massage-business ordinance that had been drafted without professional input. Written comments and local engagement helped put the proposal on hold and reopened the process to meaningful participation from the massage therapy community.
